The robust cardinalfish, Epigonus robustus, is a deepwater cardinalfish of the family Epigonidae, found around the world in southern temperate waters, at depths of between 500 and 3,000 m. Its length is up to 22 cm.
It is a vigorous fish which, apart from the second dorsal fin exhibiting a longer spine, resembles the big-eyed cardinalfish.
